last production lancer evolution

We were all heartbroken when we learned that Mitsubishi was ending production of the Lancer Evolution permanently. However, there is a silver lining. Mitsubishi has auctioned off the last production Lancer Evolution to raise money for charity.

The Final Edition Evo is powered by a turbocharged DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine rated at 303 horsepower—the most powerful mass-produced Evolution ever built.

Mitsubishi only produced 1,600 of its Final Edition Evolution model and the US1600 car went to the online auction block on eBay. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Feeding America Riverside & San Bernardino and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

Over the course of seven days, 15 bidders from across the country battled it out to keep the highest bid. In the end, the Final Edition sold for $76,400.

Nicole Suydam, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, said, “Too many people in our community are forced to make hard choices between rent and food, or medicine and food. Mitsubishi’s auction of the final Lancer Evolution will make a big difference in the lives of so many men, women and children who look to us for support every day. We are very grateful for their generosity.”

Here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi, we are sad to see the Lancer Evolution go, but are proud to see Mitsubishi donate this iconic vehicle to such a great cause.

2015 Mitsubishi Mirage

Mitsubishi Mirage owners are more likely than owners of any other vehicle (in its segment) to return to the Mitsubishi brand when they are ready for a new car. Mitsubishi has been awarded IHS Automotive’s Model Loyalty Awards, earning the title of “highest Model Loyalty in the Non-Luxury Traditional Sub-Compact Car Segment for the 2014 model year.”

The HIS Automotive Loyalty Awards are presented annually to automakers, based on actual consumer transactions. The awards recognize automakers for standing out in their segments for their ability to retain repeat customers over multiple buying cycles.

“We are delighted to receive this Model Loyalty recognition by IHS Automotive,” said Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President of MMNA in a statement. He goes on to say “Mitsubishi Motors has experienced growing customer loyalty across our entire model lineup through the years, and this award demonstrates that we are successfully retaining our current customers while simultaneously introducing new consumers to the brand.”

It’s no wonder Mitsubishi Mirage model loyalty is through the roof. The Mirage offers excellent fuel economy (37 mpg city and 44 mpg highway), an overall vehicle safety score of 4-Stars awarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an array of features, and a starting price of just $12,995.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander

We here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi took part in the Central Minnesota New Car Show at the beginning of the month and loved every minute of it! Nine dealerships throughout the St. Cloud area were involved with the car show and we were fortunate to be one of them!

We had over 15 brand new Mitsubishis on display and were excited to show them off to guests and potential customers. Not only were vehicles on display at the car show, guests had the opportunity to take part in activities that included getting pictures with the Easter Bunny (what kid wouldn’t love that), testing out the new XBOX 360 racing game – Dirt 3, and driving remote controlled cars.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with guests and having the opportunity to discuss our dealership and cars with them. The all-new Mitsubishi lineup is filled with top-notch safety and technology features that will appeal to everyone! 2015 Mitsubishi MirageBuying a new car can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. You can always buy a car with a small price tag.  Add fantastic fuel efficiency on top of it and it will make the overall purchase even better. If these two criteria are your top priority, then the Mitsubishi Mirage is the car for you.

KBB.com recently included the Mirage in its list of the “10 Most Fuel-Efficient Cars Under $25,000.” Not only is the Mirage the only non-EV/non-hybrid on the list, but it is the least expensive one, too, with a starting price of only $12,995.

As for fuel-efficiency, the Mirage has an EPA-estimated combined rating of 40 mpg.

“The Mirage continues to be an important vehicle for the Mitsubishi brand,” said Don Swearingen, Executive Vice President, MMNA, in a statement. He continues to say that, “with its affordable price, incredible fuel economy and surprising list of available features, the Mirage is a great value that people recognize – February 2015 was the vehicle’s best-ever sales month since its launch in 2013.”

Making the Mirage even better is the fact that buyers love it. It currently has a rating 9.3 out of 10 on KBB.com’s consumer ratings. Not many new cars can get a rating higher than that.

Stop by Don Robinson Mitsubishi today to see if the affordable, fuel-efficient Mirage is the car for you.

EcoGreen CarWith an impressive EPA-estimated mileage of 40 mpg combined, the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage was named one of the “Greenest Vehicles” of the year by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).

The Mirage is powered by a 1.2-liter engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission. It is the only traditional gasoline-powered vehicle on the list, but it is clear to see that its engineering is anything but run-of-the-mill. The hatchback provides impressive efficiency even among competing models using alternative fuels. This provides customers with the familiarity that comes with gasoline power while providing efficient travel and peace of mind in knowing the vehicle is environmentally friendly, even more so than some of the hybrid and electric vehicles on the list.

“We are pleased to see our 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage named to the ACEEE’s ‘Greenest Vehicles’ list, and we look forward to launching more new innovative and affordably-priced environmentally-friendly vehicles in the future,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president for Mitsubishi Motors North America.

Furthermore, “with its low price, plentiful features, exceptional fuel economy and extensive warranty, the Mitsubishi Mirage offers automotive consumers an unprecedented new-car value.”

Available with a starting price of just $12,995, you can find the award-winning 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi today.

After seeing Mitsubishi’s Super Bowl commercial, you may have asked yourself: is Mitsubishi really going to follow a pizza driver around? Believe it or not, the automaker saw the recent string of bad weather as a perfect opportunity to show off the Mitsubishi Outlander safety features.

The recent snow and ice in Boston made it very difficult for people to get around, especially pizza delivery drivers. According to Mitsubishi, that’s why it gave one lucky driver an opportunity to cruise around in the new Outlander during the Super Bowl, dubbed the “Protect the Pie” campaign.

“During the biggest sporting event of the year, nobody has more to lose than one man – not the players, not the coaches, not even the advertisers spending millions and millions of dollars,” read Mitsubishi’s ad. They said that, “we’re talking about the pizza guy.”

Granted, it may seem a little weird, but we think Mitsubishi has a point. With the lucky driver behind the wheel of the Outlander with Forward Collision Mitigation and other advanced technologies, accidents were easy to avoid. That’s one of the reasons the 2015 Outlander was recently named a Top Safety Pick + by the IIHS. Don’t worry; as far as the pizza deliveries went, they were all safety delivered.

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been named The Motor Report’s Best Buy of 2015 after the publication spent “countless hours” comparing the cars on its Top Ten Best Buys 2015.

The Outlander PHEV, which is getting a new facelift this year, is one of our best family offerings by Mitsubishi Motors. It’s the world’s first plug-in SUV, with an electric range of about 50 kilometers (31 miles) to help families make fewer trips to the pump.

The Motor Report claims that after tracking fuel consumption over a month of use on regional roads, including regular longer runs, the Outlander PHEV averaged 3.8 liters/100km.  This comes out to be about 61 miles per gallon.

The Motor Report also applauded its versatile packaging, performance, and value. The Motor Report says that, “this very clever piece of advanced EV technology not only establishes a new affordable benchmark for sustainable motoring, but, by packaging these technologies into an SUV, Mitsubishi engineers have moved the goal posts significantly in drivability, ease-of-ownership, and practicality.”

We here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi can’t wait until we get to see one!  Stop in with us to get all the latest information about it!

The Mitsubishi Mirage is compact and affordable, and now, as a top performer in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) tests, it is incredibly safe.

2015 Mitsubishi MirageThe Federal New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash-test results are out, and the ratings for the 2015 Mirage are impressive. The Mirage earned four-stars in all frontal crash subcategories and five stars in all side-crash testing. Also included is a five-star rating in the side pole test, which simulates a side impact with a tree, utility pole, or other narrow object at 20 mph.

When it comes to the subcompact car segment, very few cars are considered top performers in safety tests.  The Mitsubishi Mirage’s safety scores prove that small cars do not have to sacrifice safety.

Because the Mirage is a budget-friendly car that does not sacrifice safety, style or fuel economy, it’s the ideal car for your teen driver, for your daily commute, or for road trips on the weekend. Driving off into the SunsetTake a bow, Lancer Evolution. You’ve had a great run over the years but your time has finally come. That’s right, after the 2015 model year the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, staple sports car of the brand, will be withdrawn from the manufacturer’s starting lineup. The Lancer Evolution is leaving big tire tracks to fill and they’re only enlarged by the final model’s impressive specifications.

The final Lancer Evolution model will see an all-out play in the form of the Evo GSR, fully equipped with a whole bundle of a speed fanatic’s fantasy. The GSR races off into the sunset with 473 horsepower under the hood, tearing up the track beneath its 19-inch wheels. To compare, the standard model puts out 291 horsepower, which is nothing to be scoffed at but doesn’t compare to the tire burning power of the GSR.

No new Evo model is set to take the reins, at least not for a couple of years anyway. Suspicion suggests that the replacement will be a hybrid but there is no confirmation on that just yet. After ten generations, we can only bid the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution farewell as it drives off into the distant sunset.

2015 Mitsubishi Mirage

The Mitsubishi Mirage is part of a very specific—and relatively unknown—segment: the minicar segment. These cars, which basically look like a miniaturized combination of a hatchback and a crossover, boast great value at a small price. The Mirage, which is only in its second year on the market, has that in spades—and now it boasts the safety record of one of the safest small cars available today.

The Mitsubishi Mirage has great results from both the IIHS and NHTSA testing regimens as a 2015 model. From the IIHS, it earned top ratings of “good” on almost all tests—excluding the small overlap test, on which many small cars perform poorly. On the NHTSA tests, the car earned four-star and five-star ratings on every test, on both side and front crash tests.

This added safety makes the Mirage one of the most interesting new models on the roads today, as that safety is tacked on top of great value, efficiency, and style. The Mirage gets a combined 40 mpg, a ridiculously great number that looks even more enticing today thanks to falling gas prices. To learn more about this safe, stylish, and efficient little minicar, come see us at Don Robinson Mitsubishi today.
