2017 Mitsubishi Outlander
If you’re looking for a new adventure in the state of Minnesota, there are tons of trails to explore. Whether you like hiking, bird watching, or biking, there’s truly something for everyone. Plus, you can easily find any off-road destination in a Mitsubishi Outlander, the perfect vehicle for the trip. With added storage space and a rugged exterior, any off-road adventure is a breeze.
One of the top Minnesota trails, according to TrailLink, is the Dakota Rail Regional Trail. This 26.6-mile trail is composed of asphalt and gravel, which is perfect for most beginners. As part of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, this trail was converted from old rail lines. Activities include biking, inline skating, fishing, and even cross country skiing. Plus, it’s wheelchair accessible.
Lake Wobegon is also a popular trail in the area. This one is a whopping 60 miles, with an asphalt surface that is also built on an old rail line. Biking, skating, walking, and snowmobiling are all perfect for this trail, and there are great places to fish along the way. Again, this trail is also wheelchair accessible, making it perfect for those with limited mobility.
Finally, hop in your Mitsubishi and drive to the Paul Bunyan State Trail. Measuring over 119 miles, this asphalt trail passes through forests, over 10 rivers and streams, and along more than 20 lakes. There are tons of flora and fauna, and campgrounds are located at both ends. Like the other trails mentioned, this is an accessible asphalt trail built on old rail lines.

The Paris Motor Show is one of a handful of major automotive events held around the world throughout the year. It’s a time for automakers to show off production models and concept vehicles alike. Mitsubishi was out to take the spotlight this year with a set of concepts that were easy on the eyes, to say the least.
A next-generation plug-in hybrid crossover took center stage, but it wasn’t the Outlander we were hoping for. Instead, the GT-PHEV concept, otherwise known as the Grand Tourer, is the latest hybrid concept to debut in recent years.
Next year, however, is an entirely new story.
Starting in 2017, Mitsubishi’s debuts will no longer just be concepts. Instead, production models will take the helm under the leadership of Tsunehire Kunimoto, Mitsubishi’s new global design chief. His strategy is to boast about the brand’s reputation while continuing to move forward.
Remember that Grand Tourer Concept? There’s a very real possibility it could become the next-generation Outlander in 2019. As a result, Mitsubishi played with an upscale design theme for the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
The GT-PHEV boasted a floating roof and maximized space and visibility on the interior. The future of Mitsubishi begins at the Geneva Motor Show next spring where the Japanese automaker will unveil its newest crossover.
We here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi are happy with what we saw at the Paris Motor Show!
Mitsubishi’s sales have been soaring as of late, and the automaker plans to cash in on that success soon with the release of a new crossover coming in late 2017/early 2018. The new Mitsubishi compact crossover will slot between the Outlander and Outlander Sport in the automaker’s lineup, and will be sold mainly in Europe and the United States.
Automotive News reports that the crossover will likely take styling cues from the eX Concept crossover which debuted recently at the Tokyo Motor Show. Its competitors will include the likes of the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson in a segment that is becoming increasingly popular with drivers across the globe.
The release of the new crossover will mark Mitsubishi’s comeback as a strong player in the crossover/SUV world. Currently, the automaker’s lineup consists of three cars and two crossovers, but the addition of this new model would even things up and make Mitsubishi a strong contender in a contended segment.
If you can’t wait a couple more years for the release of the new Mitsubishi compact crossover, stop by and check out the current lineup at Don Robinson Mitsubishi. Feel free to share your comment below about what you think this new SUV might be like for the Mitsubishi brand!
Since its production, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander has been one of the most popular compact SUVs on the market, and the best-selling vehicle in Mitsubishi’s lineup. The incredible success of the Outlander has caused the company to look into expanding the nameplate’s family, offering an Outlander Plug-in Hybrid variant for American consumers.
Currently, most buyers of the 2016 Outlander have opted for the available V6 engine, a feature not offered by any other vehicle in the compact SUV segment. When I say most, I mean most, too – a staggering seventy percent of consumers bought the V6 over the more economical four-cylinder engine.
The Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is being offered as a more fuel efficient alternative to other engines in the lineup. The PHEV will come with a Twin Motor 4-wheel-drive drivetrain, along with a 2.0-liter motor powering the front wheels and an electric motor in the back. That electric motor will be powered by a 12 kWh battery.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is getting a May 2016 release date in the United States. The success of the hybrid might help pave the way for future PHEVs in the future. Tell us at Don Robinson Mitsubishi if you think you might want the 2016 Outlander PHEV model!
When you need to transport a lot of people, you need a big vehicle. And, larger vehicles almost always cost more than their smaller counterparts. But, you don’t have to break the bank to get the right-sized vehicle. The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander was recently ranked number one in Cars.com’s list of the Most Affordable 3-Row Crossovers.
“We designed the 2016 Outlander to be an unmatched value in its segment, so it’s no surprise to us that it leads the way on the Cars.com list of most affordable 3-row crossovers,” said Don Swearingen, MMNA Executive Vice President. Swearingen goes on to say, “from its long list of features, to available advanced safety technologies and a new eye-catching design, the seven-passenger Outlander is a leader in value and reliability.”
The 2016 Outlander has a starting price of only $22,995. And, even if you bump up to the well-equipped SEL trim, it still only starts at $24,995. The new Outlander features over 100 engineering and design improvements over the previous model year, including its new stellar front end design.
When putting together its list of crossovers, Cars.com considered more than just price. It also weighed five years of fuel costs and the car’s residual value after five years. And, to be considered for the list, a vehicle has to come equipped with an automatic transmission, power driver’s seat, rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port.
The 2016 Outlander SEL has all of these features and more. And, making it even more of a value is the fact that it is backed by an industry-leading 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty.
If you are looking for a 3-row crossover that will still leave money in your pocket, then come take a look at the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander available today at Don Robinson Mitsubishi.
In an unusual move, especially for new models, Mitsubishi has made the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander’s MSRP lower than the previous model year’s. Mitsubishi’s most popular crossover, the 2015 Outlander is priced at $23,195, with the 2016 model dropping $200 to $22,995. We are glad here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi that the price is dropping, but is there a catch?
A $200 drop doesn’t sound like much, but considering the impressive upgrades on the 2016 Outlander, the fact that the price dropped at all instead of rising is amazing. Next year’s Outlander features a sleek new styling with modern LED taillights and a redesigned front grille, as well as over 100 mechanical upgrades. Mitsubishi said they hope the lower price will attract new customers by providing a lot more bang for the buyer’s buck than the 2015 model.
The interior of the 2016 Outlander features had been significantly redesigned as well, and there have been some updates to the safety system. A V6 engine option on top of the V4 is also featured in the 2016 model. The V6 boasts higher horsepower and torque than the V4, and both engines are connected to an updated continuously variable transmission. Be sure to tell us what you think of the new 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander when they arrive in our store!
Mitsubishi recently announced that it would be halting all production of sedans and turning its full attention to the SUV market for the time being. Following that announcement, it’s a good thing that the new Mitsubishi Outlander design is so eye-catching and excellent. It already shows the brand’s competence and commitment to the SUV/crossover market.
The new design features an X-shaped grille outlined in chrome with a shiny black panel in the center. This design shows off a lot of the same styling as the Outlander PHEV Concept-S, which debuted back at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. We got to see the new Outlander front end even before it debuted at the New York Auto Show, thanks to a teaser image that showed off the grille. Now that we have seen the debut at the Auto Show, we are even more excited about what’s to come.
The Mitsubishi Outlander will also share some powertrain similarities with the Concept S, since the brand is offering it as a Plug-In Hybrid version for 2016 as well. Whether you want the gas-only or hybrid-powered version of the Outlander, you’ll soon find a facelifted version of the SUV here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi. Come see us today to learn more!
If you are looking for a new crossover SUV, it’s likely you will want to wait awhile for the release of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. Mitsubishi recently announced that the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander crossover will be debuting at the 2015 New York International Auto Show on April 2. This debut will unveil a refreshed version of the popular Outlander, making it likely to be one of the best options on the market and a vehicle that’s worth waiting for.
Along with the announcement of the Outlander’s debut date, the Japanese carmaker also released multiple 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander teaser images, hinting at the future of the crossover SUV. These images preview a brand-new front fascia for the popular vehicle, putting out a more sophisticated air than ever before. They also hint at a rear end that looks similar to one that debuted on the Outlander PHEV Concept-S during the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

After seeing Mitsubishi’s Super Bowl commercial, you may have asked yourself: is Mitsubishi really going to follow a pizza driver around? Believe it or not, the automaker saw the recent string of bad weather as a perfect opportunity to show off the Mitsubishi Outlander safety features.
The recent snow and ice in Boston made it very difficult for people to get around, especially pizza delivery drivers. According to Mitsubishi, that’s why it gave one lucky driver an opportunity to cruise around in the new Outlander during the Super Bowl, dubbed the “Protect the Pie” campaign.
“During the biggest sporting event of the year, nobody has more to lose than one man – not the players, not the coaches, not even the advertisers spending millions and millions of dollars,” read Mitsubishi’s ad. They said that, “we’re talking about the pizza guy.”
Granted, it may seem a little weird, but we think Mitsubishi has a point. With the lucky driver behind the wheel of the Outlander with Forward Collision Mitigation and other advanced technologies, accidents were easy to avoid. That’s one of the reasons the 2015 Outlander was recently named a Top Safety Pick + by the IIHS. Don’t worry; as far as the pizza deliveries went, they were all safety delivered.
See the safety features for yourself by test driving a 2015 Outlander here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi.
The Outlander PHEV, which is getting a new facelift this year, is one of our best family offerings by Mitsubishi Motors. It’s the world’s first plug-in SUV, with an electric range of about 50 kilometers (31 miles) to help families make fewer trips to the pump.
The Motor Report claims that after tracking fuel consumption over a month of use on regional roads, including regular longer runs, the Outlander PHEV averaged 3.8 liters/100km. This comes out to be about 61 miles per gallon.
The Motor Report also applauded its versatile packaging, performance, and value. The Motor Report says that, “this very clever piece of advanced EV technology not only establishes a new affordable benchmark for sustainable motoring, but, by packaging these technologies into an SUV, Mitsubishi engineers have moved the goal posts significantly in drivability, ease-of-ownership, and practicality.”
We here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi can’t wait until we get to see one! Stop in with us to get all the latest information about it!
