2017 Mitsubishi Outlander
If you’re looking for a new adventure in the state of Minnesota, there are tons of trails to explore. Whether you like hiking, bird watching, or biking, there’s truly something for everyone. Plus, you can easily find any off-road destination in a Mitsubishi Outlander, the perfect vehicle for the trip. With added storage space and a rugged exterior, any off-road adventure is a breeze.
One of the top Minnesota trails, according to TrailLink, is the Dakota Rail Regional Trail. This 26.6-mile trail is composed of asphalt and gravel, which is perfect for most beginners. As part of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, this trail was converted from old rail lines. Activities include biking, inline skating, fishing, and even cross country skiing. Plus, it’s wheelchair accessible.
Lake Wobegon is also a popular trail in the area. This one is a whopping 60 miles, with an asphalt surface that is also built on an old rail line. Biking, skating, walking, and snowmobiling are all perfect for this trail, and there are great places to fish along the way. Again, this trail is also wheelchair accessible, making it perfect for those with limited mobility.
Finally, hop in your Mitsubishi and drive to the Paul Bunyan State Trail. Measuring over 119 miles, this asphalt trail passes through forests, over 10 rivers and streams, and along more than 20 lakes. There are tons of flora and fauna, and campgrounds are located at both ends. Like the other trails mentioned, this is an accessible asphalt trail built on old rail lines.

We at Don Robinson Mitsubishi believe that St. Cloud is a wonderful place to live and work, but everyone needs a vacation, right? If you’re planning on loading up your Mitsubishi Outlander or Outlander Sport this summer for a family road trip but don’t know where to go, consider a few of these ideas:
- Louis, Missouri: The city with the famed Arch offers a lot to do, including the City Museum. It’s a 10-hour drive from St. Cloud, meaning you can make it there in a just a day’s drive.
- Sandusky, Ohio: Sandusky is known for having what is arguably the world’s best roller coaster haven: Cedar Point. A 12-hour drive from St. Cloud is all that is between you and a couple of days riding coasters on the beach. Make it a theme park trip, and drive another 4 hours to experience Ohio’s Kings Island near Cincinnati.
- Denver, Colorado: The city of Denver has plenty to offer culturally, and it’s just a 13-and-a-half-hour drive. If you switch off with your spouse, you’ll be able to make it to the Mile High City in your Mitsubishi SUV in just one day.
- Chicago, Illinois: The Windy City is the closest option on this list, but perhaps offers the most to do, whether you’d like to spend time on the beach or explore downtown. You and your family can be there in just a 7-hour drive from St. Cloud.
Be sure to bring your Mitsubishi in for routine maintenance at Don Robinson Mitsubishi before any road trip this summer.
There are still conflicting opinions on whether it’s more efficient to drive with the windows down or the air conditioning on. While some studies say it’s universally better to leave the windows down, others have concluded that AC uses less fuel when you’re driving at speeds above 45 miles per hour. Is there one true answer to the windows down vs. air conditioning debate?
Short answer: no. There is still disagreement. Business Insider wrote an article that showed fuel consumption at 31 mph, 50 mph, and 68 mph, and at all three speeds the air conditioning used more fuel than rolling the windows down. HowStuffWorks, on the other hand, maintains that the exponentially increased drag caused by rolling the windows down at high speeds uses more fuel than the AC.
The good news about the lack of end to the debate, though, is that the higher your speed is, the smaller the difference is between fuel use with the AC on vs. fuel use with the windows rolled down. So basically, you can do whatever you like best, and it probably won’t have much of an effect on your fuel use. At lower speeds, though, you’ll use a lot more fuel with the AC on than with the windows rolled down, so keep that in mind.

One of the biggest stresses of taking a long road trip is how much you need to put aside for gas, and how often you’ll have to stop. If you follow these tips on getting better fuel economy on road trips, you’re sure to make fewer stops at the pump and have more a little more pocket change.
The best thing you can do to save gas is to drive slower and more cautiously. It can be hard to do this, especially when you’re trying to get to your vacation destination, but going 65 instead of 70 will optimize your fuel use. Coasting more often instead of slamming on the brakes also helps, since braking and accelerating uses a ton of fuel.
If at all possible, try to avoid heavy traffic times and areas. Download an app with real-time traffic updates and see if you can take alternate routes. When you’re idling in a traffic jam, you’re getting zero miles per gallon.
Pack as light as possible. Don’t bring a bunch of extra stuff you don’t need, because the heavier your car is, the more fuel you’ll use. Make sure your tires are properly inflated before you leave! Under Inflated tires make your car work harder.
Finally, turn the air conditioning on as low as you can stand and roll the windows up on the freeway. The drag can really hurt your fuel economy.

When the weather gets warmer, the road becomes flush with motorcyclists. Did you know that over half of all fatal motorcycle crashes involve another vehicle, and that most of those are at the fault of the car or truck driver? It’s extremely important to keep motorcycle safety a priority. Here are some tips to help you and motorcyclists:
When you’re turning left, look for traffic – The number one cause of fatal accidents for motorcyclists is when a vehicle turns in front of them. When you’re turning left, make sure you look out for motorcyclists.
Increase your following distance – Motorcyclists have a much quicker stopping distance than cars do. This means that if they stop suddenly and you’re following too close, your chances of rear-ending them are high. Since they also often slow down by downshifting, this doesn’t activate the brake light. So make sure you’re paying attention.
Allow them to swerve – Motorcyclists often adjust their position in a lane to be seen better or to avoid things like potholes and debris. Give them room in the lane to do so if you’re passing them, and don’t ever try to share the lane with them.
Follow these tips and you’ll have a safe and happy spring! Be sure to stop in and see us at Don Robinson Mitsubishi this spring for some great deals on new Mitsubishi models!

Everyone loves going to drive-in movie theaters, especially as the weather starts to get warmer. That’s why we’ve put together a list of drive-in theater tips to help you get the most out of your experience.
Assuming you have a Mitsubishi, you’ll have plenty of space to stretch out and relax to enjoy the movie. Just in case you want to get outside, though, an important thing to remember are lawn chairs. According to Drive-Ins.com, most people find that lawn chairs are a great way to enjoy the movie.
Also, choosing the right double-feature is important. If you’re going with the whole family, make sure to choose two movies that the kids will be able to sit through. If you’re going with friends, make sure to consider everyone in the group. Most theaters offer a vast array of options to choose from throughout the season.
Though most drive-ins will remind you, make sure to charge your battery by turning on your car every once in a while. Nothing ruins an evening faster than having to call a tow truck because your battery is dead.
Last but not least, mosquito repellant is a must. As temperatures increase, so do the bugs, especially on humid days. Make sure to bring plenty of insect repellant to keep those annoying bugs at bay. Be sure to tell us about your Drive-In experience at Don Robinson Mitsubishi!
