Mitsubishi’s sales have been soaring as of late, and the automaker plans to cash in on that success soon with the release of a new crossover coming in late 2017/early 2018. The new Mitsubishi compact crossover will slot between the Outlander and Outlander Sport in the automaker’s lineup, and will be sold mainly in Europe and the United States.
Automotive News reports that the crossover will likely take styling cues from the eX Concept crossover which debuted recently at the Tokyo Motor Show. Its competitors will include the likes of the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson in a segment that is becoming increasingly popular with drivers across the globe.
The release of the new crossover will mark Mitsubishi’s comeback as a strong player in the crossover/SUV world. Currently, the automaker’s lineup consists of three cars and two crossovers, but the addition of this new model would even things up and make Mitsubishi a strong contender in a contended segment.
If you can’t wait a couple more years for the release of the new Mitsubishi compact crossover, stop by and check out the current lineup at Don Robinson Mitsubishi. Feel free to share your comment below about what you think this new SUV might be like for the Mitsubishi brand!
Since its production, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander has been one of the most popular compact SUVs on the market, and the best-selling vehicle in Mitsubishi’s lineup. The incredible success of the Outlander has caused the company to look into expanding the nameplate’s family, offering an Outlander Plug-in Hybrid variant for American consumers.
Currently, most buyers of the 2016 Outlander have opted for the available V6 engine, a feature not offered by any other vehicle in the compact SUV segment. When I say most, I mean most, too – a staggering seventy percent of consumers bought the V6 over the more economical four-cylinder engine.
The Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is being offered as a more fuel efficient alternative to other engines in the lineup. The PHEV will come with a Twin Motor 4-wheel-drive drivetrain, along with a 2.0-liter motor powering the front wheels and an electric motor in the back. That electric motor will be powered by a 12 kWh battery.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid is getting a May 2016 release date in the United States. The success of the hybrid might help pave the way for future PHEVs in the future. Tell us at Don Robinson Mitsubishi if you think you might want the 2016 Outlander PHEV model!
Let’s face it—Halloween is all about the kids. Kids are the ones who get dressed up, get cute pumpkin-shaped baskets, go door-to-door yelling “Trick or Treat!” and get to fill up on candy. But some parents rightly have a few reservations about letting their little ones take candy from strangers – which is when trunk-or-treating becomes a viable option.
Trunk-or-treating, put simply, is an event in which some people from a community parks their cars in a parking lot somewhere and has the costumed kids go trunk-to-trunk for candy instead of door-to-door. Typically, these are small events held in church parking lots, but the practice is starting to catch on in other venues as well!
The benefits of trunk-or-treating include keeping your children confined to a community of people that know one another and are trustworthy. Also, the whole process of trick-or-treating becomes a lot easier and more streamlined. There’s no walking around with your kids, and no getting to the edge of the neighborhood and realizing you have to turn around and walk all the way back. Additionally, decorating your car for the event can be a fun family experience for both you and the children.
Trunk-or-treating might not be for everybody. Trick-or-treating certainly provides more options and gives kids a more traditional experience, and that’s just fine for some people. But sometimes it’s also just nice to know there are other options for parents who worry about their little ones on Halloween. Tell us what you think of this new emerging Halloween tradition here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi.
Don Robinson pledged to donate $1 for every new page like to our Facebook page to the Tri-County Humane Society in St. Cloud, MN. From July 15th to August 19th, we ran our campaign to raise money, and with the help of the Humane Society we were able to reach a lot of new fans! After five weeks, we raised a total of $806 for the Humane Society!
This campaign was created because Don Robinson is a big dog-lover and wanted to give back to those who help take care of animals. Spurred by this and his desire to help out man’s best friend, he sought out our local Humane Society to find a way to give back. Thus our Like Campaign was formed as well as a lasting friendship with the people at our local shelter.
Don commented on this campaign saying, “I am very fortunate to have found a place here in St. Cloud that makes the difference that the Tri-County Humane Society does. When I first walked into the humane society, it was very clear to me the difference that these people make and the happiness they bring not only to families, but to the animals they care for as well.”
Because of the success of this campaign and the bond formed with the Humane Society, Don Robinson Mitsubishi wants to continue to help by finding great homes for the animals they care for. The Mitsubishi Mirage has been an overwhelming success in the United States since its 2014 model, and the follow-up 2015 Mirage continued that trend. However, fans may have noticed that Mitsubishi seemed to be holding off on a 2016 model, making many believe that the Japanese carmaker has halted Mirage production—but think again.
It turns out that Mitsubishi has decided to skip the 2016 Mirage, because they are skipping straight to the 2017 model year. And you can bet that the next Mirage to hit dealerships will be the best yet.
Little information is known about the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage, besides that it’s slated to hit dealerships early next spring. Now that Mitsubishi has made their big announcement in skipping the 2016 model, perhaps more information is on the way.
We would have to guess that the 2017 Mirage will have some pretty big cosmetic changes, and like its predecessor – the 2015 Mirage – it will probably be one of the most fuel-efficient, non-hybrid, and non-electric vehicles on the market. We at Don Robinson Mitsubishi can’t wait to see what improvements will be made on this already great vehicle! Share with us your speculations about the upcoming 2017 model in the comments below!

When you need to transport a lot of people, you need a big vehicle. And, larger vehicles almost always cost more than their smaller counterparts. But, you don’t have to break the bank to get the right-sized vehicle. The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander was recently ranked number one in Cars.com’s list of the Most Affordable 3-Row Crossovers.
“We designed the 2016 Outlander to be an unmatched value in its segment, so it’s no surprise to us that it leads the way on the Cars.com list of most affordable 3-row crossovers,” said Don Swearingen, MMNA Executive Vice President. Swearingen goes on to say, “from its long list of features, to available advanced safety technologies and a new eye-catching design, the seven-passenger Outlander is a leader in value and reliability.”
The 2016 Outlander has a starting price of only $22,995. And, even if you bump up to the well-equipped SEL trim, it still only starts at $24,995. The new Outlander features over 100 engineering and design improvements over the previous model year, including its new stellar front end design.
When putting together its list of crossovers, Cars.com considered more than just price. It also weighed five years of fuel costs and the car’s residual value after five years. And, to be considered for the list, a vehicle has to come equipped with an automatic transmission, power driver’s seat, rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port.
The 2016 Outlander SEL has all of these features and more. And, making it even more of a value is the fact that it is backed by an industry-leading 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty.
If you are looking for a 3-row crossover that will still leave money in your pocket, then come take a look at the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander available today at Don Robinson Mitsubishi.
Though winter may now officially be in the past, we are still not immune to icy weather in the form of hail. Hailstorms can be seriously dangerous and frequently occur with little to no warning. If you find yourself experiencing a hailstorm, here are some hail safety tips to keep you and your family safe
- If given a warning, close your curtains and blinds to prevent injury from potential broken glass
- If you are outside when the hail begins, seek shelter as soon as possible and try to stay away from windows
- If you are driving, try to move your car under a bridge. If a bridge isn’t handy, it is best to pull over and crouch down in the back of your vehicle
- Consider keeping a blanket in the back of your car. If there is hail strong enough to break any of your windows, you will need the blanket to shield you from the glass
- Lastly – be vigilant. It is easy to avoid personal, physical harm by staying inside during a storm watch or warning
Hail can be dangerous and damaging for you and your vehicle, so stay safe and prepared for when hail may unexpected hit. If you have any other hail safety tips, let us know in the comments at Don Robinson Mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi made a big announcement earlier this month, saying that the automaker would be expanding their future lineup to include a larger variety of model types. Specifically – they will be adding more sedans.
The Japanese carmaker is likely using these new sedan models to fill a void left by the unfortunate departure of the Lancer Evolution line. This popular performance line was recently cut from the Mitsubishi lineup after the carmaker declared it will not be renewed for the next model year. Although, this makes us a bit sad at Don Robinson Mitsubishi, we are excited to see what new sedans Mitsubishi will be bringing on to replace it.
Don Swearingen, the executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North America, mentioned in a recent interview that one vehicle will replace the Lancer, while another will be inspired by the Mirage. He did not say, however, how many new sedan models the company would be adding to its collection. We are just glad that Mitsubishi isn’t doing away with sedans for good!
Hopefully, more information will be revealed in the coming months. Would you like to see some new Mitsubishi sedans? Let us know what you think in the comments.
Whether your car is brand new or you’ve had it for years, there will come a day when you pull into the gas station and realize you’ve completely forgotten which side your gas tank is on. Instead of pulling up and hoping you’ve got the right side, getting out, and having to get back in and do the whole thing over again, use this handy method for determining where your gas cap is.
It’s tempting to try to peer into your side mirrors and hope you can catch a glimpse of the outline of the little gas cap door, but you can actually figure it out just by looking at your dashboard.
You know that seemingly pointless little arrow on the side of the gas tank icon on your dashboard? It points to the side your gas cap is on. Some older cars don’t have the arrow, but in many cases even in the arrow’s absence the gas cap side will correspond with the side the hose in the icon is on. Who knew? Tell us at Don Robinson Mitsubishi if you knew about this handy little trick for finding your gas cap! I bet this lady wished she knew this nifty trick!
