last production lancer evolution

We were all heartbroken when we learned that Mitsubishi was ending production of the Lancer Evolution permanently. However, there is a silver lining. Mitsubishi has auctioned off the last production Lancer Evolution to raise money for charity.

The Final Edition Evo is powered by a turbocharged DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine rated at 303 horsepower—the most powerful mass-produced Evolution ever built.

Mitsubishi only produced 1,600 of its Final Edition Evolution model and the US1600 car went to the online auction block on eBay. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Feeding America Riverside & San Bernardino and the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.

Over the course of seven days, 15 bidders from across the country battled it out to keep the highest bid. In the end, the Final Edition sold for $76,400.

Nicole Suydam, CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, said, “Too many people in our community are forced to make hard choices between rent and food, or medicine and food. Mitsubishi’s auction of the final Lancer Evolution will make a big difference in the lives of so many men, women and children who look to us for support every day. We are very grateful for their generosity.”

Here at Don Robinson Mitsubishi, we are sad to see the Lancer Evolution go, but are proud to see Mitsubishi donate this iconic vehicle to such a great cause.

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

After a decade in Mitsubishi’s lineup, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is leaving for good. The automaker is looking to make a difference with finale of the popular model. That’s why the very first Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition is heading to auction to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The Lancer Evo auction began on November 11th on eBay, 10 days before the MS Dinner Auction in California officially closes the bidding.

In all, only 1,600 Lancer Evo Final Editions will head to the United States, each carrying a numbered plaque. Under the hood is a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine that rockets off with 330 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. Other features include a black painted aluminum roof, Bilstein shock absorbers, and Brembo 2-piece front rotors.

“With the support of Mitsubishi Motors we are able to fund cutting-edge research, drive change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, collaborate with MS organizations around the world, and provide programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward,” said Richard Israel, President of the National MS Society.

Mitsubishi has been supporting the National MS Society for more than 16 years. The last time we checked, the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition was going for $38,900. Be sure to let us know what you think of the last edition of the Lancer Evolution at Don Robinson Mitsubishi!

Mitsubishi Lancer

Mitsubishi made a big announcement earlier this month, saying that the automaker would be expanding their future lineup to include a larger variety of model types. Specifically – they will be adding more sedans.

The Japanese carmaker is likely using these new sedan models to fill a void left by the unfortunate departure of the Lancer Evolution line. This popular performance line was recently cut from the Mitsubishi lineup after the carmaker declared it will not be renewed for the next model year.  Although, this makes us a bit sad at Don Robinson Mitsubishi, we are excited to see what new sedans Mitsubishi will be bringing on to replace it.

Don Swearingen, the executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors North America, mentioned in a recent interview that one vehicle will replace the Lancer, while another will be inspired by the Mirage. He did not say, however, how many new sedan models the company would be adding to its collection.  We are just glad that Mitsubishi isn’t doing away with sedans for good!

Hopefully, more information will be revealed in the coming months. Would you like to see some new Mitsubishi sedans? Let us know what you think in the comments.

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Last year, Mitsubishi announced the Lancer Evolution X would go away, to the chagrin of many performance car enthusiasts and some of our customers at Don Robinson Mitsubishi—but it isn’t gone yet!

Before the automaker gives it the final send off, it’ll be building a limited amount of Lancer Evolution Final Edition models—and the first market lucky enough to sell them is Japan.

Only 1,000 models will be built and sold there, but several more will be made for specific markets like the United States and Australia.  We can’t wait to see what this special edition EVO will have here in the U.S.

Under the hood, it’ll have the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 291 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, but with sodium-filled exhaust valves instead.

Other goodies include Recaro seats, Brembo high-performance brakes, 18-inch BBS wheels, a dark chrome front grille, and black leather and red stitching inside.

According to Mitsubishi, it won’t stop building the regular 2015 Lancer Evo X until all of its Final Edition models are sold—so maybe we can get them to keep making it by leaving one of them unsold!  We hope the Lancer Evolution will be around for a little while longer!
